There is just too much beer in the world to only taste twice a month. In the spirit of more is better the Blind Tiger podcast team has decided to add samplesodes to the podcast lineup. These mini-episodes will feature only tastings of hopefully unique or exotic beer, often on location to keep your Blind Tiger intake at a more regular interval.
This week the Blind Tiger crew got together at one of our favorite places in Lancaster to get a drink, The Fridge. We talk about them enough on the show, we spend enough time at their location buying, drinking, and discussing beer we thought it was only fair that we go on location to discuss the good, the bad, and the downright delicious in this weeks Samplesode: Taste of the Fridge.
The Fridge is the creation of co-owners Kevin Brown and James Futty. They are both extremely enthusiastic about beer, pizza, and the Lancaster community. They have endeavored to create a safe haven for the beer geek and beer novice alike. While I could spend tons of time telling their story it is better left to their own words:
Due to the economic down-turn, we both lost our jobs and were at a crossroads in life, that defining moment when you can go back to what is familiar and comfortable, or risk everything to follow your heart and finally do what makes you truly happy.
Our mantra was always “let’s keep going until somebody says no.” We worked hard, had some good luck, and a humbling amount of support from so many people to help us fulfill our dream. To all of you (and you know who you are), we are eternally grateful. And no, nobody said “no.”
So drink some great beer, eat some great pizza, listen to some great music, enjoy some beautiful art and relax with friends, old and new, at The Fridge.
While that sets the stage for what to expect it certainly doesn’t thrust you in the heart of the environment. To really get a sense for what makes the Fridge such a magical place to get a beer, give a listen to the episode for what we like, dislike, and downright love.
And when you are done head over the Fridge for a beer. They are open regardless of weather.
