There is just too much beer in the world to only taste twice a month. In the spirit of more is better the Blind Tiger podcast team has decided to add samplesodes to the podcast lineup. These mini-episodes will feature only tastings of hopefully unique or exotic beer, often on location to keep your Blind Tiger intake at a more regular interval.
This week the Blind Tiger crew was lucky enough to score a hilarious, intriguing, and deeply informative interview with Aaron Miller, brewer at Burley Oak Brewing Company. Located in Berlin, Maryland spitting distance from Ocean City, Maryland Burley Oak is attempting to create top quality craft beer for those looking for quality, taste, and inventiveness.
Aaron has been a long time home brewer who took the plunge to turn his hobby into a profession. After approximately eight years of home brewing he spent almost literally every penny he had to attend the oldest brewing school in the United States. Upon graduation he was fortunate enough to land a job at Burley Oak Brewing Company where after only a few short weeks he was promoted to brewer after the current brewer resigned.
Without skipping a beat Aaron picked up the reigns of his predecessor and began brewing amazingly delicious craft beer. From their new lager series, to their inventive young sour, to the unadulterated taste of freedom Aaron is helping to craft world-class craft beer. Don’t believe me, just ask beer advocate.
Aaron enlightened us to his philosophy of brewing, his story, his failures, and his many successes. Give a listen to see what it takes to make it in the world of craft brewing.
We wish Aaron all the best in his future endeavors and are eager to see the day when Burley Oak distributes to our neighborhood. And I predict a field trip when the weather warms.
