JoBoy’s couldn’t resist celebrating our nation’s independence by opening its doors at its new location. We all knew the time was near after the butcher paper covering the windows finally came down revealing a nearly finished bar and some sneak peak pictures popped up on their Facebook account.
Overall it has been more than a year since the announcement to move from their previous location in Manheim and a nearly nine month renovation of the space. It appears to be time well spent, with a dark wood interior and shiny fermentation tanks in the main eating area. The decor is said to resemble a speakeasy. The brewpub also offers a second floor event space, and a basement retail section. For the first time, you can now take some of that delicious JoBoy’s beer home with you.
Menu offerings are similar, but with some expansions and upgrades. In addition to the amazing barbeque offerings, cooked on site in a smokehouse that was built in the back of the building, the menu will also feature pasta, pastrami, and seafood. But seriously, go for the barbeque, you will not be disappointed. Also upgraded was JoBoy’s brewing capacity. From being one of our favorite little nanobrewers, originally using a half-barrel capacity system, the new brew infrastructure can do up to four barrels at a time. Some of this new capacity will go to producing a new lager, named in honor of Lititz Springs. It previously had an Irish red named in honor of Manheim.
We loved it in Manheim; we will adore it in Lititz. JoBoy’s offers some great grub with a beer list that doesn’t pull punches. We will be checking them out sometime before the summer’s end.
