Episode 41: Winter is Coming

IMG_0669This is the 41st episode of the Blind Tiger Podcast recorded on November 6th, 2014.  In this episode Mike, Jesse, and myself gathered in our studio to say goodbye to the last vestiges of fall and huddle up for warmth and the impended polar vortex that aims to usher in winter with gale force, biting winds, and perhaps even snowfall.  Yet with the potential for snow comes the hallmark of the end of the reign of the pumpkin and the introduction of the Christmas Ales and Winter Warmers.  It also invites an insatiable lust for beer’s darker varieties as a nice porter or stout often replace the hop heavy IPAs as king of the season.

Mike reports on the closure of a Lancaster beer business yet in the same breath celebrates the opening of a new brewery in Ephrata.  We discuss what sounds to be the world’s greatest health spa where beer fanatics can relax in a hot tub filled with all natural brewing ingredients while drinking unlimited beers.  While soaking in wort doesn’t sound overly appealing this spa treatment is one of the most appealing of the unconventional spas.

We break out a new segment where we discuss new breweries that have come to the Lancaster area and how exciting their entry into our area has become.

In honor of the Stark’s of Winterfell family motto, “Winter is Coming” this weeks opening questions is: If you were to craft a family sigil based on beer, what would it be and why?
