Samplesode 22: Spring House Brewing Company

IMG_2433There is just too much beer in the world to only taste twice a month. In the spirit of more is better the Blind Tiger podcast team has decided to add samplesodes to the podcast lineup. These mini-episodes will feature only tastings of hopefully unique or exotic beer, often on location to keep your Blind Tiger intake at a more regular interval.

This week the Blind Tiger crew decided to head to the a Lancaster staple; The Taproom by Spring House Brewing Company.  This bar is the hip, downtown Lancaster location for Spring House Brewing Company.  This bar has a great ambiance in a great location about a block from the center of Lancaster city.  While it doesn’t serve exclusively Spring House beer it is thee location to get many of their beer on tap and in bottle to go.

The Taproom opened up in 2011 after it became obvious that Spring House wasn’t able to adequately serve their ever growing number of fans at their fully stocked brewery location.  Their brewhouse was packed with brew equipment so they opted to build a bar in Lancaster city.  The popularity of the taproom and Spring House beers exploded after it opened.  It grew until the point of needed a second brewing location.

Mike, Jesse, and myself have been to the Taproom several times since it opened but we figured despite it being a Lancastrian craft beer staple that we best review it.  It is a great place to grab a Spring House beer, a quick bite to eat, and play shuffleboard until your arms are too heavy to lift.

This episode we review the Taproom, Spring House beers, and our thoughts on ambiance, food, beer, and shuffleboard.  Give a listen to see if you agree with our thoughts.  And if you disagree don’t be afraid to offer your two cents in the comments.

We are always willing to hear how wrong we are.
